Local history at Bourne Hall Museum
Discover the fascinating past of Epsom and Ewell at Bourne Hall Museum, Ewell Village. Based in futuristic Bourne Hall itself, the free museum charts the borough’s history through its collections of documents and picture archives, drawing together fine art, costume, archaeology and social history to build up a picture of local life through the ages. Highlights include:
- The collection itself, including Lord Rosebery’s hansom cab, a 19th century fire engine, extensive memorabilia relating to the Derby and significant Roman archaeology from local sites.
- The successful children’s club which meets on the second Saturday of each month. Each session is on a different theme, with frequent visits from re-enactors, many of whom are familiar from TV.
The museum is open Tuesday to Saturday, 9am-5pm. For more information on the area’s rich and varied history click here.
