Sheengate Publishing was established in 1998 with the launch of the Richmond Magazine. We are now Surrey’s largest independent publisher of local lifestyle and property magazines with eight titles covering five of the UK’s top 10 richest boroughs.
We also undertake contract publishing work, leaflet distribution and event management.
Alex started his career at the vanguard local magazines in Central and West London and worked his way up in sales before going on to launch titles of his own. He is one of the founding partners of Sheengate Publishing and is responsible for the commercial management of the publications.
A journalist by profession Con has extensive experience of local media and property. He helped launch The Guardian free newspaper group in the late 1970s and went on to launch and edit magazines and local newspapers for other publishers before starting out on his own. He is one of the founding partners of Sheengate Publishing and oversees all the editorial and creative functions for the publications and websites.
Tristan joined Sheengate Publishing in February 2008. With acute business development and customer service experience, Tristan previously oversaw the excess of 100 pages of property each month, across all of Sheengate’s titles, as well as managing the display sales for The Richmond & Barnes Magazines. He is now The Group Sales Manager for the Sheengate Group with overall advertising revenue responsibility.
Stewart came to Sheengate Publishing in 2011 after a lengthy stint in the events industry. Having successfully overseen the logistics of distribution for the magazines, he went on to supervise the rebranding of the company and the launch of its various websites.
Most recently Stewart has been appointed Sales Manager of the Guildford, Farnham & Woking Magazines, with additional responsibility for running the Classified team across all titles.
Joining the team in 2001 Françoise’ design experience and creative flair has made a huge impact in the magazines. Now overseeing the production and design for each of Sheengate’s titles.
The longest-serving member of the editorial team, Richard Nye has worked as a feature writer and sub-editor on every Sheengate title and has been Editor of The Richmond Magazine since 2007. Educated at King’s College School, Wimbledon and Christ Church, Oxford, he is also a freelance writer and is the author of the travel book Railblazing.
Having spent her twenties living in Japan, Catherine began working at Sheengate Publishing almost immediately after her return to the UK in 2002. In her writing career, she has contributed to numerous publications and newspapers both in the UK and Japan including the award winning Kyoto Journal, and the Rough Guide to Japan. While not working for Sheengate, Catherine heads up her own company, Top Bird Media, which handles PR for clients including 2010 British Composer Award nominee Tim Whitehead. Catherine writes the Food and Drink column, and manages the interiors and fashion columns.
Fiona has extensive experience in the publishing industry, having worked on Fleet Street, for BBC magazines, the Wall Street Journal and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. She joined Sheengate in 2010 and edits the Elmbridge and Kingston titles, as well as the group’s Health & Beauty section.
After working as a medical secretary in The Wirral and then London, Nikki’s intro to PR was at IPC Magazines in the late 70s. The arrival of her three sons was interspersed with selling Tupperware and renovating homes. Nikki moved to West Surrey in 1990, initially to Woking and later Guildford, reasserting her passion for property; as a journalist, PR and more recently as a developer. Nikki comments: “I truly love this area and in my new role as Editor of The Guildford Magazine it’s great to be involved in all its aspects – not just its beautiful homes.”
Kellie came to Sheengate Publishing in 2007 as the Accounting Manager. Her blue chip background and wealth of experience have enabled her to evolve the Accounting, HR and Office Services activities of Sheengate, successfully supporting the growth of the business.
